Balsam Alkouz specializes in service computing, IoT-based services, and applied machine learning. With a PhD in Engineering and IT from the University of Sydney, and a BS in IT-Multimedia and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Sharjah, Balsam brings a strong interdisciplinary foundation to her research. Prior to joining KAUST she held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Sydney. Her current work under the KAUST Global Fellowship focuses on developing a cutting-edge framework for Swarm Network-as-a-Service (SNaaS), which leverages UAV swarms to deliver resilient and efficient networking solutions for smart cities like NEOM. By integrating real-time AI-driven service adaptation, co-movement pattern discovery, and dynamic optimization strategies, her research aims to redefine connectivity in next-generation urban environments.
