Firas Ben Ameur holds a Master’s in Electro-Mechanical Engineering from Université Libre de Bruxelles and Vrije Universiteit Brussel, as well as an Advanced Research Master's from the Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI), where he worked on adaptive mesh algorithms for hypersonic flows and plasma simulations. He completed his Ph.D. at KU Leuven and VKI, focusing on adaptive techniques for high-speed flow modeling. Now, through his fellowship, Firas aims to improve weather forecasting for the Arabian Peninsula by integrating AI and Bayesian deep learning with uncertainty quantification. This approach will enhance prediction accuracy and runtime, offering more reliable forecasts for the region’s critical sectors impacted by extreme weather.
